Huntington Beach, CA – Today, Michelle Steel, Chairwoman of the Orange County Board of Supervisors, will report raising nearly $1.15 million in the Federal Election Commission’s second quarter with nearly $2.1 million cash-on-hand available.
Steel has established a strong grassroots fundraising base that has raised over $3.3 million to date.
As campaigns ramp up for the November election, Steel’s fundraising numbers put her in the top tier of challengers seeking to unseat vulnerable incumbents. California’s 48th Congressional District is a top target seat that is rated a toss-up by POLITICO. In the March jungle primary, Republicans took a greater vote share than Democrats with 50.6% to their 46.7%.
“Michelle is posting some of the strongest fundraising numbers in the country because she built a grassroots campaign on the message that we need new leadership for Orange County in Washington D.C., and that message is resonating as we cope with a once-in-a-lifetime crisis,” stated Sam Oh, general consultant to the campaign. “Michelle has shown leadership throughout the pandemic focused on protecting Orange County residents while Harley Rouda continues politicizing the crisis and failing to show real leadership.”
The Steel for Congress campaign has recently rolled out key campaign endorsements, including the National Federation of Independent Business, bolstering Steel’s record of standing up for small businesses.
