Huntington Beach, CA – Today, the Michelle Steel for Congress campaign announced raising over $510,000 since the beginning of the year. To date, Steel has raised nearly $2.2 million, and the most recent FEC report clearly establishes her in the top tier of Republican challengers in the country.
“It’s a testament to the strength of Michelle’s candidacy that she has consistently posted some of the best fundraising numbers nationwide each and every quarter. There is a clear appetite for new leadership in Congress, and Michelle’s record, message, and commitment to this community is breaking through,” stated general consultant Sam Oh. “These are uncertain times for our country, but Michelle’s leadership and experience of producing results and passing pro-business and pro-growth policies make her the obvious choice in CA-48.”
Steel advanced from the March 3rd jungle primary and is set to face liberal Harley Rouda in November. In a contested jungle primary, Republican candidates on the ballot received over 50% of the vote, foreshadowing what is set to be one of the most competitive campaigns in the country.
In 2019, Steel was one of only a few Republican challengers in the country to consistently out-raise an incumbent Democrat member of Congress. POLITICO has rated this race as a “toss-up” and pundits see it as one of the most likely Republican pick-up opportunities in the country this cycle.
