Conservative Stalwart Newt Gingrich Says Steel will be a Responsive,
Effective Leader for Orange County Families
Huntington Beach, CA– Today, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich endorsed Michelle Steel in her bid for California’s 48th congressional district. Gingrich, who served in the U.S. House of Representatives for 20 years, is the latest high profile endorsement for Michelle Steel.
“Michelle Steel is a principled and strong representative who has been a leading figure in the fight to reduce the tax burden on California families,” said former Speaker Newt Gingrich. “Michelle Steel is battle-tested and will be a responsive and effective leader who will fight for Orange County residents.”
Supervisor Steel has amassed a list of influential supporters in her bid for U.S. Congress that includes former Orange County U.S. Representatives Ed Royce, Mimi Walters, Ed Royce, and Dana Rohrabacher. Steel’s hard-charging campaign has also received the early endorsements of the California Republican Party, Republican Party of Orange County, and the Lincoln Club of Orange County.
In 2018, Steel was overwhelmingly re-elected to represent Orange County’s 2nd supervisorial district with 63.4% of the vote. The 2nd supervisorial district overlaps 66% of California’s 48th congressional district and is solely in Orange County.
The 48th district encompasses all or portions of Aliso Viejo, Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach, Laguna Niguel, Newport Beach, Santa Ana, Seal Beach, and Westminster.
