Democratic candidates must outline positions for voters
Garden Grove, CA – Michelle Steel for Congress today called on Cheyenne Hunt, Kim Nguyen, Aditya Pai and Derek Tran to explain their silence when it comes to supporting Israel and outline where they stand on issues of critical importance to one of America’s top allies.
“The fact is that while Michelle is fighting to stop $6 billion from flowing to Iran, standing up to university presidents who refuse to condemn antisemitism, and passing legislation to tighten reporting requirements for universities that accept foreign donations, every Democrat running for CA-45 has fallen silent in terms of where they stand regarding Israel,” said Steel Campaign Spokesperson Lance Trover. “Cheyenne Hunt, Kim Nguyen, Aditya Pai and Derek Tran are terrified of their far-left base and that’s why they are silent on Israel or, perhaps, they actually side with the radicals who want to see Israel destroyed.”
In the last several weeks:
- The House passed Steel’s DETERRENT ACT that would tighten reporting requirements for universities that receive donations from foreign entities. It was recently reported that Qatar has been pumping money into universities like Texas A&M which put our security at risk.
- Steel voted to cut off any further sanctions relief to the Iranian regime
- Steel questioned university presidents on their refusal to condemn antisemitism and is on the committee investigating universities for allowing harassment of Jewish students
- Steel introduced bipartisan legislation that has passed out of committee that would make Iran sanctions permanent
“Southern California voters deserve to know if the Democrats running in CA-45 are going to continue sticking by their far-left radical allies or are they going to stand up for Israel and against those who seek to destroy it,” Trover said.
