Steel outraises her opponent by 20x, enters the 2024 cycles with $1 million cash-on-hand
Garden Grove, CA – In the first quarter of 2023, Michelle Steel for Congress raised over $1 million. Steel’s impressive haul makes her the top fundraiser amongst Republicans in competitive House seats that are targets for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. With $1 million cash-on-hand, Steel starts the cycle with a war chest that separates her from any of her competition.
Steel’s leading Democratic opponent, Kim Nguyen, managed to bring in $49,533 in the first three months of her campaign, 20 times less than Steel’s number. The weak fundraising total has led local leaders to question if Nguyen has a chance in this top target district against such a formidable incumbent.
“Congresswoman Steel’s fundraising numbers show the broad support she has garnered and the edge she has in one of the most competitive seats in the country,” stated Lance Trover, spokesman for the Steel campaign. “Democrats have wasted millions of dollars trying to unseat Michelle, but her record and her commitment to Southern California has always beaten out their lies and attacks. Steel made history in 2020 as one of the first Korean Americans elected to Congress. And after a decisive reelection in 2022, Steel now represents one of the most diverse congressional districts in the country. Steel’s impressive fundraising numbers come after Democrats vowed to spend $35 million trying to unseat California Republicans.
Steel serves on the Ways and Means Committee and has a track record of lowering taxes and promoting policies that would bolster the economy and reduce inflation, helping to lower the burden on working class families.
