Rouda on His Heels as Steel Gains Momentum in CA-48
Huntington Beach, CA – After a key second quarter filing deadline yesterday, Orange County Supervisor Michelle Steel announced she outraised her incumbent opponent, Harley Rouda, in the race for California’s 48th Congressional District. Steel reported raising $1,148,387 between April and June, where Rouda reported $661,726, close to half of that amount.
“Michelle Steel outraising Harley Rouda is just another blow to Rouda’s struggling reelection campaign,” stated Sam Oh, general consultant to the race. “While Rouda isn’t breaking his quarantine at beaches or racist fraternity parties, he has spent his time politicizing a devastating crisis. Meanwhile, Michelle has shown up everyday to work for Orange County and her widespread support is a direct reflection of her steady leadership.”
The campaign for CA-48 remains one of the most competitive in the country. As campaigns across the country report their fundraising numbers, Steel remains among the top of all challengers. Steel enters the key stretch of the campaign with over $2 million cash-on-hand and the momentum needed to flip the seat come November 3rd.
