National Republican Committee Includes Steel on List of 35 Top Contending Campaigns
Huntington Beach, CA – Today, Michelle Steel earned “Contender” status from the National Republican Congressional Committee in their vaunted Young Guns Program. After being recognized as an “On the Radar” candidate earlier in the cycle, the elevation to the second level of the competitive NRCC program proves the growing strength of the Steel campaign as they look to unseat vulnerable Harley Rouda.
“Our campaign is working nonstop to earn the support of our community, and the increased national recognition is a direct result of the work we are doing to take back Orange County,” stated Michelle Steel, Chair of the Orange County Board of Supervisors. “I am proud of the community-first campaign we are building, and we won’t stop working until we beat Harley Rouda in November.”
The NRCC named 35 candidates from across the country to their first round of “Contender” candidates this cycle. In order to earn the recognition, campaigns must work towards impressive fundraising goals, provide a clear path to victory, and meet benchmarks throughout the cycle that prove their campaign infrastructure competitive, well-funded, and in-line with their districts.
