The following is a statement by Michelle Steel, Vice Chair of the Orange County Board of Supervisors, on the vicious killing spree which took place in Garden Grove and Santa Ana, on Wednesday, August 7:
“I wish to express my sincerest condolences to the families and friends of the victims, and I pray for a speedy recovery for the injured.
“Zachary Castaneda should not have been out on the street, he should have been in prison where violent criminals belong. Instead, four men have been killed and the lives of their loved ones have been changed forever.
“State laws such as AB 109 and proposition 47 have increased crime in neighborhoods across California. Politicians in Sacramento have abdicated their responsibility to protect law-abiding citizens. It is long past time Sacramento put public safety first.”
