Michelle Steel Raises Over $535,000 in First 60 Days of Campaign and Reports Over $515,000 Cash-On-Hand
Huntington Beach, CA– Michelle Steel, Vice-Chair of the Orange County Supervisors, today announced raising over $535,000 in the first 60 days of her campaign for California’s 48th congressional district with over $515,000 cash-on-hand. The second fundraising quarter covers April 1st to June 30th; however, Michelle Steel formed her congressional campaign committee on May 1st.
“The impressive fundraising report solidifies Michelle Steel in the top tier of Republican congressional challenger candidates in the country. This report sends a strong message to the DCCC who earlier this year named Democrat Harley Rouda as one of their most vulnerable incumbents,” said Sam Oh, lead strategist for the Michelle Steel for U.S. Congress campaign.
Michelle Steel’s fundraising prowess coupled with the early endorsements of the Republican Party of Orange County, Lincoln Club of Orange County, and some of the district’s most influential elected officials including Sheriff Don Barnes, Supervisor Andrew Do, and State Assemblyman Tyler Diep solidifies Steel as one of the country’s top Republican candidate recruits.
In 2018, Steel was overwhelmingly re-elected to represent Orange County’s 2nd supervisorial district with 63.4% of the vote. The 2nd supervisorial district overlaps 66% of California’s 48th congressional district and is solely in Orange County.
The 48th district encompasses all or portions of Aliso Viejo, Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach, Laguna Niguel, Newport Beach, Santa Ana, Seal Beach, and Westminster.
